Tower of London

Tower Hill, London, England, EC3N 4AB

The Basics

Today, the tower famously displays the Crown Jewels (which include the Imperial State Crown) and holds centuries of history within its walls, drawing travelers from near and far. It remains guarded by members of the Royal Bodyguards, known as Beefeaters. Visitors can admire the Royal Armouries in the White Tower, walk along the battlements, and see where Anne Boleyn was executed by order of Henry VIII. The popular Torture at the Tower exhibit, the Coins and Kings exhibit at the Royal Mint, the Fusilier Museum, and the Line of Kings all shed light on the tower's history.

If you have only one day...
If you have only one day in london, this is the thing to do. So much history and things to see in one tour. Tickets are pricey but ultimately worth it.

Only way to see Tower of London is a private tour with Claudia

Private Tour, Tower of London
We’ve been to the tower several times but never with a tour, much less a private tour. Our tour guide Claudia was amazing and quickly we realized our previous trips were a bit of a waste. Go with a private tour with Claudia to learn all the history and understand the exiting past of the tower. Then if you want to go again on your own you will know it all and can simply enjoy the sights. I highly recommend for anyone visiting the Tower of London. We saw it in a whole new way with Claudia.

The Tower of London - Small Group Tour with a local expert
James took us on a 1st class experience through the Tower of London. His historical knowledge was as though we were touring with an encyclopedia. He delivered his material in a way everyone could understand and his stories had us captivated. Do not miss this opportunity to really see the Tower of London in all its gore and it’s glory!

Wonderful Experience

Best of Royal London including Tower of London, Changing of the Guard and Cruise
Our tour started with the opening of the Tower of London. We got early access inside and saw the opening of the gates and the use of the "King's Keys" with an introduction from actual Beefeaters. It was also lovely to be the first to see the crown jewels. Not really a cruise, but public transit on the Thames. Changing of the Horse Guard was also very cool. Our guide was fantastic and knowledgeable.

VIP Early Access - Opening Ceremony Tower of London & Bridge with Crown Jewels
A must see experience, early access and opening ceremony meant we got in to see the Crown Jewels. Not enough time to fully see the Tower of London before time to leave for the Tower Bridge, so I opted to stay at this location and skip the bridge. Otherwise we would have to pay a fee to return.

Best of London Including Tower of London, Changing of the Guard, with a Cream Tea or London Eye Upgrade
What a fantastic trip! My daughter (21) and I enjoyed every moment. The tour was comprehensive and afforded us a great opportunity to see all the historic sights while enjoying history and commentary from our expert guide, John. He and driver, Sean, took great care to ensure our trip was successful. St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London, boat tour and Harrod’s-it was a perfect day. Thanks also to Lisa for her help. Will recommend!!

The Tower of London - Small Group Tour with a local expert
James was an excellent guide through the Tower of London. He is a wealth of knowledge on British history and added so many details above what was posted on the exhibits. It was a lengthy tour (the unusually cold temperature made it a little tough at times!), but necessary to get through the whole Tower of London. Definitely recommend James and this tour.

Great and informative tour. You get about an hour in the Tower of London and then it’s on to walking to see the Changing of the Guard. Rob is a fantastic tour guide! Thoroughly enjoyed his stories and humor.

Fun Tour - Title Change Needed

Best of Royal London including Tower of London, Changing of the Guard and Cruise
Tour guide was great. Unfortunately the title says changing of the guard and unfortunately it isn’t possible on certain days, including Monday, due to the later opening time at the tower. We still had a good time but others in our tour group were pretty unhappy.

VIP Early Access - Opening Ceremony Tower of London & Bridge with Crown Jewels
I thought our tour guide's explanations were authentic, to-the-point, appropriately humorous, and not mechanical. I appreciated his sharing of some behind-the-scenes stories about modern-day living in a historical monument.
