Stonehenge

Junction of A303 and A344/360, England

The Basics

Entrance to Stonehenge is via timed ticket. You’ll be able to view the stones from a few meters away, and shuttle transportation between the observation areas is included with entry. Access to the stones is limited to 30 minutes, but you can spend as long as you like exploring the site’s visitor center. If you want to visit the Inner Circle and walk among the stones, you’ll need to book a special tour outside of public opening hours. Day tours from London are often combined with nearby attractions such as Oxford, Windsor Castle, Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or the Cotswolds.

The tour to do!
This is the way to see Stonehenge. The experience of being up close and inside it is really special. Just looking from the outside would have not have been same. Our Tour Guide was very nice, knowledgeable and organized. Transportation was easy and clean. The other features Bath and Lacock were very neat as well, but the star is going inside Stonehenge.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
A very well organized trip. Very comfortable clean bus that leaves from a convenient location. Great sights (both Stonehenge and Bath are very interesting places to visit), plenty of time to explore at a comfortable pace. Amazing tour guide Andrew who went above and beyond his duties by making sure people knew exactly how to get home from the drop off point. Great experience overall.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
Peter was an amazing guide. Funny, cleaver and knowledgeable. He made the bus trip very entertaining. We had only 1h in Stonehenge, but honestly, it was enough. We had 4h in bath and could use more. It is really nice and deserves at least 2 days. The bus was nice and clean.

Stonehenge, Avebury, Cotswolds. Small guided day tour from Bath (Max 14 persons)
We had a fantastic time. Kevin was a great tour guide & gave us tons of info at all of our stops. The bus was clean & smooth, even had a power plug for my phone. My daughter and I enjoyed our trip! Highly recommend! BONUS: we left Bath early & got to Stonehenge early, before all the crowds got too big. So my pictures had very few people in them. A true PLUS!!!

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Salisbury and City of Bath Tour
Anna was a great guide teamed up with our driver, Marious sp?. It’s a long day, but worth it. Very clean and comfortable coach. Our goal was to see Stonehenge and a little more outside of London, and we’re glad we did!

Private Windsor Castle and Stonehenge Day Tour
It was cold in early December so there weren't lines at either place. The driver was very knowledgeable and gave us some tips on the drive down to Windsor. He went with us around Stonehenge and knew the history and took photos for our group. He booked an excellent local pub and recommended good dishes for us to try.

Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath Trip from London
Wonderful experience of visiting the state rooms, Chapel and Queen Mary’s dolls house. Loved Stonehenge and its history. The Roman baths were fascinating and so much to see inside. I would advise to reduce time from Stonehenge and Bath and add more for Windsor Castle as it’s a bigger area to walk around in and more to see.

London to Stonehenge Shuttle Bus and Independent Day Trip
Bus driver was very nice. Basically the tour company arranges your bus for you. Once you are at Stonehenge, be aware that you need to download the app in order to do the audio tour. Ever since covid, they no longer have headsets. Make sure your phone has enough data and Battery to do so. The food court is great

Windsor Castle, Oxford and Stonehenge Tour from London
Great all day tour. Therese was a terrific tour guide and Sokol a great bus driver. Only thing I suggest is we should have spent half hour less at Stonehenge and half our more at Oxford. Due to traffic we only had an hour at Oxford in the dark and everything was closing.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Tour from London
Pablo and Dan made this tour to Stonehenge and Bath a wonderful day for our family. Pablo gave us great historical perspective at every stop and en route, sharing tips for touring London as well, and made sure everyone knew how to navigate home from the drop off point. Dan even took pictures for our family holiday card! Fun day I would recommend to all.

When to Get There

Stonehenge is open all year round, but the most atmospheric time to visit is during the summer or winter solstice, when a huge party celebrates the longest and shortest days of the year, and entrance is free. Although visits are timed, it can get crowded in summer, so arrive early or opt for a sunrise or sunset tour to experience the landmark at its most photogenic.
